Two persons were killed after they were hit by a 10-wheeler truck while they were crossing a street in barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu, last Saturday night.
Christine Nadela, 27, and Niño Gerali, 25, suffered severe injuries in their bodies. They were declared dead at the Minglanila District Hospital.
The driver of the truck, Panfilo Roble, surrendered to the police after the incident. He will be charged for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide, said police.
Police said when Nadela and Gerali tried to cross the road, a multicab stopped to give way.
The two victims were about to cross when they were hit by the truck, which overtook the multicab, said PO1 Eddie Espina of the Minglanilla police.
The truck with plate number RFP-145 is owned by Roble Trucking which was hired by Taheiyo Cement company based in San Fernando town.
