Cop nabbed over alleged cockfighting in Muntinlupa

A policeman was arrested for allegedly running a cockfighting ring in Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.

PO2 Yob Enguio and five others were arrested after agents of the Philippine National Police-Counter-Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) caught them in the act of cockfighting on Sunday.

Recovered from them were four fighting cocks, two gaffing blade, and bet money worth P8,600, a report from CITF said Monday.

Police said Enguio was formerly assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office headquarters in Taguig City but was transferred to the police regional office in Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao over his reported involvement in illegal drugs.

The CITF said the operation against the suspect stemmed from several text messages from concerned citizens saying that a cockfight was being managed by a policeman in the area during weekends.

Enguio and his cohorts are now under the custody of the CITF for documentation. He will face charges in violation of the cockfighting law. /je
