The eliminated Shopinas.com Clickers tied a record of futility after they bowed to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 81-88, last night in the 37th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Clickers remained winless in the tournament with their 13th straight loss. The defeat tied the 0-13 record of Great Taste Great Taste (1982 Reinforced Conference) and Country Fair in 1984 of the same conference.

Jeff Chan scored 14 points, Ryan Araña and JR Quiñahan added 12 points each for the Painters, who played with their injured top rookie Paul Lee.

The win was Rain or Shine’s eighth in 13 games, improving their ranking going into the playoffs.

FEATURED STORIES

The remaining games in the season-opening tournament are already deemed no bearing as the teams which will compete in the playoffs are already complete.

Shopinas.com and Alaska were the first two teams to be booted out. The Aces officially bowed out after absorbing a 97-100 loss to the defending champions Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters last Saturday.

The remaining games will be a battle for positioning for the surviving teams.

In the playoffs, the number one and two teams will have twice-to-beat edges over the number eighth and seventh squads, respectively.

The number three team will face the number six squad, while the number four team will take on the number five squad in a best-of-three affair.
