A rivalry that started in Cebu figures to be rekindled once again, only this time on a bigger stage as Junemar Fajardo and the rest of the back-to-back Cesafi champions University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters try to make their mark against the four-time defending UAAP champions Ateneo Blue Eagles and their 7-footer Greg Slaughter in the semifinals of the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Champions League today at the Arena in San Juan.
It will be a battle of giants as Fajardo, who stands at 6-foot-10, will once again battle his former nemesis Slaughter, who used to suit up for the University of the Visayas Green Lancers.
The last time the two faced off was in 2009 when UV took their ninth crown in the Cesafi, defeating UC, 3-1, in the finals.
UC made it all the way to the Final Four after winning the Southern Islands crown as they defeated the Southwestern University Cobras, 63-58, last Wednesday in Ormoc City.
Meanwhile, an intriguing matchup is set in the main game as it will be the NCAA finals all over again when the San Beda Red Lions take on the San Sebastian Stags.
The two squads met in the finals this year with the Red Lions winning the crown, 2-0.
