Husband accidentally shoots wife dead in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — A businesswoman was shot dead on Friday night (Nov. 16) accidentally by her husband in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, police said on Saturday (Nov. 17).

Jennifer dela Cruz, 45, was hit in the head and died while being treated at the Western Pangasinan District Hospital.

Police said Dela Cruz’s 44-year-old husband, Christopher, was dry firing his 9-mm pistol at about 8:50 p.m. when the gun went off inside their house in Barangay (village) Palamis.

Dry firing refers to practice shooting stances using an empty firearm.

Christopher claimed he did not know the gun was loaded. He was immediately arrested by responding policemen and his gun was confiscated. /jpv
