For 31 days straight, trains of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) ran without a single glitch and incident of offloading passengers – setting a new record since 2011, its management announced Friday.

In a Twitter post, the MRT-3 management said there has been no unloading incident from October 16 to November 15. The last unloading incident at MRT-3 was reported on Oct. 15.

This new achievement of the MRT-3 has surpassed its record 29 consecutive days without incident from July 4 to August 1, 2018.

The management also said the latest record was the longest “no-offloading streak” of the MRT-3 since 2011.

“We attribute the 31-day no-offloading streak of MRT-3 to three things, these are: (1) Regular maintenance works of our trains, to make sure that we give our commuters a safe and reliable transport every day; (2) availability of spare parts (note that we are only using original spare parts for our trains); and (3) focus and teamwork,” the MRT-3 management noted.

The MRT-3 is set to undergo a 26-month rehabilitation after the governments of Japan and the Philippines signed a loan agreement for the rehabilitation.

The MRT-3 rehabilitation will start on January 2019 and is expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2021.

The management said that with the rehabilitation works, the speed of the trains, which are currently running at 30 kilometers per hour (kph), is expected to increase to 60 kph.

“Currently, they are running at 30 kph. With the rehabilitation project now in the pipeline, we are expecting to increase it to 60 kph,” the management said.

Also part of the rehabilitation process is the rollout of the Dalian trains on the line. Currently, one Dalian train has been rolled out on the tracks of the MRT-3.
