As the Quiapo Church prepares for the annual celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, a church official said Wednesday the route for next year’s Traslacion will be the as same as this year.
The Feast day of the Black Nazarene is celebrated every January 9.
“Wala hong bago sa ruta [kumpara] noong nakaraang taon, kung ano iyong ruta noong nakaraang taon, iyon din po iyon (There will be no changes to the route of the processions. We will follow last year’s route),”Alex Irasga, head of the Traslacion working committee, said in a press conference.
Quiapo Church officials decided to slightly change the route of the carriage of the Black Nazarene in 2018 to veer away from Lagusnilad, which organizers said poses a “double treat” to devotees.

Irasga noted that with the change of track, the procession quickly arrived at the Manila City Hall.
He said the carriage usually arrives at the Manila government office at noon, but in last year’s procession, it arrived at around 9 a.m.
However, the image of the Black Nazarene arrived at the Quiapo Church after 22 hours since its procession began at the Quirino Grandstand. This was just as long as the procession in 2017. /ee
