BAGUIO CITY — A temporary burial site is being put up for unidentified bodies and body parts retrieved from the massive landslide at Natonin town in Mountain Province.

An appropriate site has yet to be chosen for two bodies, which were in an advanced state of decomposition when these were recovered downstream in Paracelis town on Nov. 10.

Natonin Mayor Mateo Chiyawan said they were still looking for a temporary burial site for the unidentified bodies near Alfonso Lista town in Ifugao province, which has a funeral parlor to process these.

Eight people are still missing, according to Eduard Chumawar Jr., chief of the Mountain Province disaster risk reduction and management office.

They were among government employees, workers and residents who took shelter at a Department of Public Works and Highways building that was dragged down by the landslide at Barangay Banawel on Oct. 30 when Typhoon “Rosita” (international name: Yutu) hit northern Luzon. —Kimberlie Quitasol
