6 dead, 18 hurt in Pangasinan road crashes

DAGUPAN CITY — Six people died, while 18 others were injured on Sunday in separate road accidents at Pangasinan province, police said on Monday.

In Binalonan town, three were killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck as they traversed the southbound lane of the Aloragat Bridge in Barangay (village) Bugayong at 11:50 p.m.

The identities of the victims have not been established at press time.

Investigators said the motorcycle swerved to the northbound lane and crashed into the approaching truck.

In Natividad town, a 15-year-old rider was killed when his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle, which was negotiating a left turn in Barangay Calapugan at 7:10 p.m.

Iverson Batocael died while being taken to a hospital.

The other motorcycle’s driver, Mark Noel Ulandia, 19, and his passengers, Danica Ogoy, 17, and and Juvilyn Ogoy, 16, are being treated in a hospital in Tayug town.

In Agno town, Abello Ramos, 61, died when his motorcycle was hit by a truck in Barangay Macaboboni at about 5:30 p.m.

In Malasiqui town, Gemma Toralba, 38, was killed after she fell from a tricycle in Barangay San Julian at about 8:30 a.m. Toralba was seated behind the tricycle driver, police said.

In Dagupan City, two passenger jeepneys collided at the De Venecia Road at about 7:20 p.m. hurting 16 passengers.

Investigators said one of the jeepney drivers lost control of the steering wheel after he evaded a huge chunk of concrete on the road. /cbb
