Alleged gunrunning ring leader nabbed in Pasig City

A suspected leader of a gunrunning syndicate was arrested by police on Thursday in Pasig City.

In a report on Friday, the Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as Paner Usodan, 53, who is believed to be the leader of the Usodan gunrunning syndicate.


Usodan was nabbed by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the EPD Intelligence Unit in a shop selling motorcycle accessories along the C-6 Road corner Eusebio Avenue in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, police said.

Recovered from Usodan were a .38 caliber revolver without  serial numbers, five live .38 caliber rounds and a black pouch.


According to the EPD, Usodan’s group is involved in the sale of loose and unlicensed firearm in the cities of Taguig and Pasig.

Usodan is now detained at the EPD-CIDG as charges are being prepared against him.  /muf
