Villanueva: Don’t vote for credit-grabbers, purveyors of fake news

Senator Joel Villanueva warned the public on Tuesday against senatorial wannabes who are either credit-grabbers or purveyors of fake news.

“Dapat mag ingat ang ating voting public, especially this coming elections lalo na dito sa Senado dahil maraming nagbabadyang sumira ng reputasyon ng Senado…” Villanueva told reporters in an interview at the Senate.

(The voting public should be careful, especially this coming elections, particularly here in the Senate because there are many who are threatening to destroy the reputation of the Senate.)

“I trust naman our voting pubic na mas magiging intelehente sila. Nakaka-annoy sila kasi na sobrang daming fake news, ‘yung gumagawa ng sariling news…” he said.

(I trust our voting public that they’d be more intelligent. It’s just annoying that there are many fake news, those who are making their own news.)

In particular, the neophyte senator warned the public against credit-grabbers and purveyors of fake news, who now want to be elected in the Senate next year.

“‘Yung hindi pa napipirmahan ng Presidente, sinasabi pirmado na… parang mali e. Tapos ‘yung credit-grabbing, ang dami…” he said.

(For instance, there are those who say that something has been already signed by the President when it’s not; that’s wrong. And there are many people who are credit-grabbers.)

Villanueva said the public should instead vote for senators would could help in nation-building.

“Importante na meron tayong makukuha sa bawat seat na uupo sa Senado, merong magagawa, maco-contribute kasi kung wala, pang padami ng tao lang sa upuan ng Senado e hindi maganda,” he added.

(It’s important that each seat in the Senate will be filled with those who will work and contribute because if not, they will just add to the number of people in the Senate and that’s not good.)

Villanueva said he would campaign for his “seatmates” in the Senate, including Senators JV Ejercito, Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara and Grace Poe. /je
