Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced on Monday a P25 increase in the basic pay in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the integration of the P10 cost of living allowance (Cola) in the minimum wage, thus raising the daily pay in Metro Manila to P537.
Bello said in a press briefing that the NCR Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved the wage adjustment for non-agricultural workers in Wage Order No. NCR-22.
“Upon effectivity of the Wage Order No. NCR-22, the new minimum wage rate in Metro Manila shall be P500 to P537 across different sectors,” Bello said in a press briefing.
Currently, the actual basic wage for NCR is P502 plus P10 Cola for a total minimum wage of P512, according to Wage Order No. NCR-21 approved on Sept. 14, 2017.
“That is now the real wage adjustment, hindi yung speculation na P25,” Bello said.
Bello said that the minimum wage increase will be effective 15 days after publication of the wage order. /cbb
