NO less than four running events will kick off simultaneously today in different key venues here in Cebu.
These are the Red Cross Million Volunteer Run of the Philippine Red Cross which will be simultaneously held at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds and at the Cebu Business Park, the Du Ek Sam Run which will start at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu and the Youth Run Make A Stand at the Plaza Independencia.
The Red Cross run in Lapu-Lapu City attracted around 900 runners while the Cebu chapter race drew 1,500 runners. Both events feature a non-competitive 5-kilometer run and the 3k, 6k and 12k categories. The Cebu chapter race will be handled by veteran race director Joel Baring while the Lapu-Lapu run will be handled by Red Cross volunteers.
The Du Ek Sam Run on the other hand, has attracted more than a hundred runners to compete in the 10k, 5k and 3k categories with huge cash prizes and raffle prizes at stake. Kenneth Casquejo and Run Check will supervise the running event.
Meanwhile, the Youth Run Make A Stand of the District Youth Coordinating Council (DYCC) of Cebu has around a thousand runners competing in the 3k, 5k and 10k categories with P101,400 worth of cash prizes.
