Berberio, Sanchez collar top plums in 2nd Frankie Memorial Run

CHARLIE Berberio and Preciosa Sanchez exploited the absence of the vaunted Kenyan runners to rule the 12-kilometer run in yesterday’s “Second Frankie Memorial Run: Four Bridges Four Street Children” race held in the Mellinium Plaza in Lapu-Lapu City.

Berberio clocked 48 minutes and 21 seconds to win the men’s title while Sanchez topped the women’s division in 01:08:14.

Fernando Lubas and Vincent Badajos completed the top three male 12k finishers after clocking 50:45 and 53:29 respectively.

Roda Oporto placed second to Sanchez clocking 01:10:41 followed by Jemilyn Espehon who finished in 01:13:34 for third spot.

Some 600 less fortunate children received bundles of joy as the running event’s beneficiaries which featured 12k, 6k and 4k categories. The run drew 800 runners according to race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, Nao Idio and Israel Dignos are the top female and male finishers in the 8k event clocking 47:03 and 33:50 respectively. Second to Idio was Maria Lorena Samoy (54:05) followed by Diana Balong-as (59:08) while Teodorico Diaz (34:30) and Jeffrey Igoy (37:56) came in second and third in the men’s category respectively.
