Police collared a security guard for beating a teenage boy, who was merely lighting a candle in front of their house in San Juan City during the All Saints’ Day on Thursday.
According to a police report, suspect Alfred Pamintuan, 22, and resident of Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, was arrested by members of San Juan City Police and Brgy. Salapan authorities after he beat up the 17-year-old Grade 10 student.
The boy told police that he was in front of their house in Brgy. Salapan and was lighting a candle for his departed loved ones in observance of All Saints’ Day around 6 p.m. Thursday when the intoxicated suspect arrived and without any provocations, punched and kicked him in different parts of his body.
The boy’s mother rushed out of the house and saw the suspect beating her son.
The mother then sought assistance from village authorities, who responded to the scene and accosted Pamintuan.
The police said the boy suffered wounds and bruises in his body and face.
According to the mother, the suspect has been allegedly bullying her son since they were still neighbors several years ago.
Pamintuan will face charges of physical injury in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law.
The suspect is now detained at the San Juan Police Custodial facility. /kga/ac
