DAVAO CITY – Police arrested 34 persons and confiscated a dozen sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth) in an operation in Tagum City, Davao del Norte early on Thursday, authorities said on Friday.
A report from the Davao del Norte police office said the pre-dawn raid in Purok 3, Durian Street in Madaum village, a coastal area known to be a hotbed of illegal drugs activities, also retrieved a caliber .38 pistol from the suspects.
Most of the arrested suspects were from the cities of Tagum and Panabo in Davao del Norte province and in Mabini town in Compostela Valley.
At least 11 sachets of suspected shabu worth P54,000 were seized during the operation, the report said.
Thursday’s raid was the latest massive arrests by police in an anti-drugs operation in Davao del Norte’s capital.
In September, 72 suspects were also taken into custody and over P500,000 worth of illegal drugs confiscated in a 24-hour sweep in Madaum and the nearby village of San Isidro. Frinston Lim @flimINQ
