2 kidnap victims rescued in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two kidnap victims, a girl, and an old man were rescued on the All Saints Day in two separate locations in Sulu.

In a spot report, the Philippine Navy in Sulu and the Marine Battalion Landing Team 3, rescued Jose Duterte, from Barangay Santa Maria, Siocon town, Zamboanga del Norte.

Duterte, 66, was rescued around 1:30 p.m. on November 1 in Barangay Kandayok, Panamao town, Sulu.

He was kidnapped on March 3 last year.

Around 2:45 p.m. on the same day, the Anti-Kidnapping Group, the elite group of 52nd and 84th Special Action Force, and the Sulu Provincial Police Office rescued a seven-year-old girl in Barangay Walled City in Jolo.

The girl was kidnapped in Sitio Pulao Pinang, Barangay Himba, Tandubas town in Tawi-Tawi, on June 25 this year.

Her rescue also resulted to the arrest of four suspects, namely: a certain Ajin A. Titong, 28, of Lower Calarian, Zamboanga City; Kimar Abdurajik, 28, of Buanza, Indanan, Sulu; Adjidi A. Andul, 51, of Barangay Kajatian, Indanan; and Alsadin Mangkabong Muktaju, 16, of Barangay Tanum, Patikul.

The AKG report stated that the arrest was made after a ransom was paid between the captors of the kidnapped girl and the girl’s grandfather in Walled City.

There are now seven remaining kidnapped victims in Sulu, two foreigners, and five Filipinos. JULIE ALIPALA
