Duterte orders dismissal of 3 PNPA cadets in ‘oral sex scandal’

Updated (7:45 p.m.)

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said he would dismiss the three cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) who forced two male plebes to perform oral sex as punishment for disobeying orders.

“They will be dismissed, I will dismiss them. I have no place for people [like them],” Duterte said during his post-disaster command conference in Isabela.

The President said he has already read the report on the incident that happened at the police academy in Silang, Cavite on October 6.

The PNP said that an upper-class cadet forced two first-year students to engage in oral sex while two other cadets watched.

“I was reading your report to my office about that incident of the police. I’m warning you I will never tolerate that guy,” he said.

He said he could not accept that a policeman would “dehumanize” and “rob” the dignity of his fellow policemen through lewd acts.

He admitted that he also experienced hazing during his time and was even hospitalized, but he could not accept what happened to the two male plebes at the PNPA.

“I also experienced hazing, I endured pain, I was hospitalized,” he said.

He added that he was even forced to kiss a guy but he insisted that he won’t do it. As a punishment, he said he was beaten 300.

“But itong klaseng hazing na pakainin mo ‘yung tao ng … puro kayo lalaki (But this kind of hazing where you would ask to eat … all of you are men),” he said. “He will go out of that academy almost robbed of his humanity, and he’d always remember that.”

“I really do not like this kind of shit,” he added.

The President likewise reminded the police of their duty to serve and protect.

“All the (policemen) that are listening now might want to be conscious of the fact that the police is there to maintain, protect. The commonality of our duty — AFP, policemen — is to protect and serve the nation. That’s about it,” he said.

He warned police officers who are forcing their plebes to perform lewd acts.

“I do not need that kind of policemen, not for this generation or for the next generation to come. You do not need a policeman who goes out of the academy with a deep kind of trauma,” he said.

PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde has ordered the investigation of the incident.

“Whatever the decision, when it comes to me, that will be dismissal. I do not need that kind of shit. I do not want that my police and military are dehumanized,” he said.

“Talagang for me ‘pag dumating sa lamesa ko iyan, it is dismissal. Period (Really for me if that [report] lands on my desk, it is dismissal. Period),” he added. /kga
