LOOK: Coast guard rescues passengers, crew of distressed motorboat in Cebu

About 69 passengers and six crew of a distressed motorboat were rescued on Tuesday in Cebu, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

PCG’s investigation showed that the distressed motorboat “Meme 5” departed Cordova Port bound for Getafe in Bohol at around 7 a.m. on Oct. 30. The boat, however, encountered engine trouble off Gilutungan in Cordova, Cebu.

The PCG found that the the motorboat’s hull was damaged, which caused it to be “half submerged.”

Its rescue team is composed of personnel of Multi Role Response Vessel 4404 (MRRV 4404), Special Operations Unit, Medical Team, and Diesel Fast 318.

The passengers were safe aboard the MRRV 4404 and were brought back to Cordova Port. /ee
