BI nabs Ghanaian national for using fake visa
A Ghanaian national was arrested by Immigration officers for presenting a fake Canadian visa, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday.
In a report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, BI Port Operations Division (POD) Chief Grifton Medina identified the suspect as Abdul Wahab Issah, 36.
Medina said Issah was caught at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 last Oct. 21.
He added that the suspect presented a passport with a fake Canadian visa to board a flight to Toronto, Canada. The suspect also bought the fake visa for $6,000 from a visa fraud syndicate in his homeland.
The suspect is detained at the BI detention facility while his deportation is being processed.
Meanwhile, Medina advised Immigration officers in all ports nationwide to be vigilant on monitoring foreign travelers to ensure that syndicates would not take advantage the holidays to smuggle illegal aliens in and out of the country. /je
