Over 1,500 passengers stranded at ports due to ‘Rosita’ — PCG

More than 1,500 passengers were stranded on several ports on Monday due to “unfavorable weather and condition” brought about by Typhoon “Rosita,” the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The PCG told INQUIRER.net that its tally as of Monday afternoon showed the following number of stranded passengers:

Batangas

Oriental Mindoro

Northern Quezon

Vessel trips were canceled on Monday in some ports in Luzon due to the typhoon. All boat operations at the Batangas port were suspended by the Maritime Industry Authority.

Rosita entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning, the state weather bureau reported. It was last spotted at 410 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

Rosita packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts up to 185 kph. It is moving west southwest at 20 kph.

Signal No. 3 was raised in Isabela, Northern Aurora and Quirino on Monday.

Cagayan, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Ifugao, La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, and Southern Aurora were placed under Signal No. 2.

Signal No. 1 was raised over Southern Quezon, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes and Babuyan group of Islands, Zambales, Rizal, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan, Cavite, and Camarines Norte. /je
