Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde has ordered the regional directors of the PNP to activate its disaster response units in areas that could be affected by Typhoon “Rosita.”
“I have alerted the regional directors of the Ilocos, Pangasinan, Cagayan Valley region, and Cordillera [Administrative Region] to activate their respective disaster response units,” he said in a press briefing on Monday.
Albayalde said the regional offices of the PNP will also coordinate with local government units and regional risk reduction and management councils to prepare for the possible onslaught of the typhoon, internationally named as “Yutu.”
He said that search and rescue units of the PNP will also be on standby to provide support for response teams when needed.
As of 8 a.m Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the typhoon has maintained its strength as it moves closer to Isabela-Aurora.
The typhoon is expected to make landfall over Isabela-Aurora area by Tuesday morning, October 30.
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday, October 31, Pagasa said. /je
