NDRRMC on red alert for ‘Rosita’
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) was placed on red alert status on Monday, in preparation for Typhoon “Rosita” (international name Yutu), which may bring heavy rains in Luzon.
This means operations alert teams are required to be on duty 24/7 to respond to emergencies and calamities.
There should also be coordination with government agencies under NDRRMC which include: Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration; Department of Social Welfare and Development; Department of Health; Department of Public Works and Highways; Department of Education; Department of Agriculture; Department of the Interior and Local Government; and Philippine National Police, among others.
The regional offices of Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon and Cordillera regions were also placed on red alert, the NDRRMC told reporters.
Rosita is expected to bring heavy rains in Northern and Central Luzon on Monday evening, while its landfall is anticipated over Isabela-Aurora area on Tuesday. /je
