CAAP cancels all leaves for ‘Undas’

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) canceled all leaves of employees and officials in preparation for the traditional exodus of people to the provinces for two of the most anticipated holidays in the country — All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

In a statement, the CAAP said it would enforce strict security measures at all airports starting on Oct. 27.

It said all “four area cluster heads” in charge of 40 airports under CAAP management had been advised “that maximum deployment of service and security personnel will be observed so a ‘no leave and day off’ policy will be implemented.”

The CAAP statement said the agency had started coordinating with the Office for Transportation Security for baggage screening and Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group for security and surveillance at airport perimeters.

The statement added that the CAAP was also coordinating with airline companies to bring a smooth flow of arriving and departing passengers.

The CAAP also advised passengers not to bring prohibited items with them to avoid being held and questioned by airport security personnel.

It said the move was in anticipation of increase in passenger traffic in airports in major cities and provinces during the two holidays on Nov. 1 and 2. /muf /pdi
