Marina inaugurates online appointment system for seaman’s book
The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) launched on Friday its online appointment system of the seaman’s book or the Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book (SIRB).
The Marina has directed Filipino seafarers to set online appointments for the processing of their SIRBs starting Nov. 5.
The SIRB is an identity document of seafarers issued to provide seafarers with identity papers for travel to or from an assigned vessel.
Marina said the online appointment system is accessible at their official website. Its implementation is in line with the computerization and automation of Marina processes.
The launch happened at a forum that was attended by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Department of Health (DOH) along with 500 maritime stakeholders.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Joint Manning Group (JMP) were also present at the forum. /muf
