Major repair work on Metro Manila roads ongoing until Monday

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-National Capital Region on Friday advised motorists to expect a traffic buildup in some sections of national roads in Metro Manila that will undergo repair and improvement work over the weekend.

The repair activities started at 10 p.m. Friday and will continue until 4 a.m. on Monday, affecting the traffic flow in eight cities, the DPWH said.

In Quezon City, repairs will be conducted along Edsa southbound, particularly the second lane between Kaingin Road to Quezon Avenue; Commonwealth Avenue-Zuzuaregui to Commonwealth Market, from the 3rd lane between Feria Road and Ilang-Ilang northbound and 4th lane southbound near Kilometer 16.

Also to undergo repair in Quezon City is the Katipunan Avenue/C-5 Road, specifically, southbound going to Ortigas Avenue 3rd lane from center island, between Sunrise Street and Rajah Matanda Street; and 2nd lane between Poseidon Street and Greenmeadows Avenue.

The repairs will be conducted in Mandaluyong City along Edsa-Ortigas Service Road, particularly the bus lane fronting POEA building; and Santolan Road from the east-bound lane going to Edsa inner lane between 4th Crame Street and 1st West Crame Street in San Juan City.

In Caloocan City: Edsa northbound going to Monumento, particularly the 4th lane from center island between Arellano Street and M. Ponce Street.

In Malabon City: M.H del Pilar Street in Barangay Tinajeros.

In Pasay City: Various portions of Electrical Road, Airport Road and Andrews Avenue; Tramo Road, from Zobel Roxas to Gil Puyat Avenue; Gil Puyat from Roxas Boulevard to Macapagal Avenue; and along Taft Avenue.

In Muntinlupa City: the Manila South Road, particularly the viaduct section ground level in Alabang.

Manila: In Sampaloc, E. Quintos Street from España Boulevard to Ma. Clara Street; and A. Maceda Street from Makiling to Laon-Laan Streets; Dasmariñas Street in Binondo, from Estero dela Reina to M. Paz Street; Recto Ave. in Tondo including the westbound lane going to Rizal Ave. and the  outer lane between Reina Regente Street to Estero de San Lazaro; in San Nicolas, Muelle dela Industria Street from Delpan to Madrid Streets.

In Sta. Cruz, repairs will be undertaken on Oroquieta Street from Fugoso to Mayhaligue Streets; T. Mapua Street, particularly the southbound lane going to Recto Avenue and the outer lane between Fugoso and Lope de Vega Street; Rizal Avenue corner Aurora Boulevard between Tayuman and Antipolo Streets; Carlos Palanca Street from Plaza Lacson to near Villalobos Street; Blumentritt Street from Rizal Ave. to Aurora Blvd.; and Dimasalang Street from Aurora Blvd. to Aragon Street.

The DPWH said work on the national roads has been coordinated with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
