Expect more cops deployed in Metro Manila on All Saints’ Day
A total of 3,409 policemen will be deployed as thousands of people are expected to head home to their provinces or go to cemeteries in Metro Manila for the observance of All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Sunday that it would step up police visibility between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, deploying its men to cemeteries, bus terminals, train stations, seaports and airports, among others.
According to the NCRPO, the deployment was “to ensure public safety and protection in the whole [of] Metro Manila.”
The police will be augmented by other personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Bureau of Fire Protection and local governments.
NCRPO chief, Director Guillermo Eleazar, said that he had instructed Metro Manila’s five police district directors to [monitor] “all [their] resources from personnel, mobility and other logistical requirements” to ensure that the massive police deployment would run smoothly.
