DID YOU KNOW: Oct. 18-24 is United Nations Week

05:00 AM October 22, 2018

United Nations Week is observed yearly from Oct. 18 to 24, by virtue of Proclamation No. 483 signed on Oct. 6, 2003, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The law highlights the Philippines’ staunch support for the resolutions and continuing actions of the United Nations to advance world peace and security, protect the dignity, worth and right of a person, promote social progress and attain sustainable development.

The law also tasks the Department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with other concerned organizations, to ensure the appropriate observance of the occasion. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
