2 robbers killed in Quezon shootout

LUCENA CITY – Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged encounter with policemen in Tayabas City in Quezon province early Friday, police said.

A police spot report said victims Jayson Palambiano, Cynthia Calabano and Renee Rose Balagtas reported having been robbed by the suspects in Barangay (village) Opias shortly before midnight Thursday.

Police said the suspects took a Yamaha motorcycle and the personal belongings of the victims.

The Tayabas police identified the slain suspects as an alias “Jeremy” and an alias “John Kerby.” Police said the suspects died on the spot.

According to police, after receiving the complaints, a team of operatives was deployed to pursue the suspects. Police said the police team caught-up with the robbers in Barangay Malaoa around 12:15 a.m. Friday.

The suspects reportedly opened fire at the policemen, triggering the shootout, police said.  /muf
