With more district offices and regular licensing centers of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) opening, Senator Grace Poe on Thursday said there should be no more reason to lag on transactions to obtain a driver’s license.

“Hindi na kailangang bumiyahe nang malayo ang ating mga kababayan para lamang kumuha ng driver’s license o mag-renew ng lisensya nila. Less hassle na rin para sa kanila dahil mas iikli na ang pila at bibilis na ang transaksyon sa LTO,” Poe said.

Poe said the LTO should not impose limited slots for driver’s license application and renewal, and instead streamline its processes to accommodate more applicants.

“We are urging the LTO to streamline their process and accommodate more applicants for smoother and faster transactions. Hindi na puwede ang limited slots only,” she noted.

Poe sponsored six bills that are enacted into laws, which converted licensing centers into regular offices or establishing new ones in San Pablo, Laguna (Republic Act 11068); Balayan, Batangas (R.A. 11067); Batangas City (R.A. 11066); Kawit, Cavite (R.A. 11065); Malabon City (R.A. 11063) and in Muntinlupa City (R.A. 11062).

Also, Poe authored Republic Act 10930, which extended the validity of driver’s licenses to five years from three years. It was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last August 2017.
