Drug suspect slain in Batangas
SAN PEDRO CITY— A suspected drug pusher was killed in Laurel, Batangas while the real target of the police operation escaped on Tuesday night in Laurel, Batangas.
A report from the Calabarzon police office on Wednesday said the shootout happened around 10 p.m. in Barangay Ticub.
The police reportedly carried out an entrapment operation against the drug suspect identified as Daniel Hernandez.
However, during the transaction, Hernandez and his still unidentified companion reportedly opened fire, hitting a police officer who was wearing a bullet-proof vest.
The police said they were forced to retaliate, killing Hernandez’s companion instantly.
Hernandez escaped during the gunfight towards Calaca town.
The police said they recovered a .38 caliber gun and a motorcycle from the slain suspect. /ee
