WATCH: Canadians line up to buy marijuana as drug is legalized
Canada’s first legal recreational marijuana transaction occurred today, Oct. 17, in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Eager to celebrate, many Canadians lined up on the night of Oct. 16 at various cannabis shops in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland, preparing to make a legal purchase at the stroke of midnight.
Marijuana became legal across Canada on Oct. 17, but people in Newfoundland were among the first in the country to buy the drug legally because of timezone differences.
Further details on age restrictions and permitted smoking locations were set to be administered provincially. JB
