Baste Duterte files COC for Davao City vice mayor

President Rodrigo’s youngest son, Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Wednesday for the Davao City vice mayor post in the 2019 midterm elections.

He will be running with his sister, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who had filed her COC earlier this week, seeking reelection. His sister also accompanied him in filing his candidacy.

Duterte will be running under his sister’s regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).

Sara said they expected their detractions to bring up the issue of their family running a so-called political dynasty in Mindanao’s largest city.

“They can expect the kind of leadership the President has taught us. Listen to the people, listen to and address their needs,” she said.
