SANTA MARIA, Isabela—- Six heavily-armed men on Tuesday night (Oct. 16) shot the house of this town’s municipal planning and development officer, while the vice mayor was visiting, police said.

Police said the armed men broke into the compound of Concepcion Toda just as Vice Mayor Danilo Masigan and a companion, Gerald Cabauatan, were preparing to leave, and opened fire, shattering windows and damaging Masigan’s vehicle.

Masigan, Cabatuan and members of the Toda family meanwhile took cover inside the house and emerged only after the armed men left.

Police have yet to determine what was the motive for the attack.  /muf
