Last chance for 2019 political aspirants to file COCs

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) opened on Wednesday its last day for the filing of certificates of candidacies (COC) for the May 2019 midterm elections.

In a tweet, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that there would be no extension for the filing of COCs.

Jimenez said that as of Tuesday, the total number of senatorial aspirants who filed their COC were already 104.

The party-list groups that filed their certificates of nomination and acceptance (CONA), meanwhile, have already reached 115.

Political personalities that are expected to file their COCs this Wednesday are election lawyer Romulo Macalintal, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, and reelectionist Senator Sonny Angara.

Bernadette Herrera-Dy of Bagong Henerasyon party-list, and former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque of Luntian party-list are also expected to file their CONA. /cbb
