No amihan season yet

Fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms is expected in most parts of the country this week as the holiday chill is still several days away, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

The declaration of amihan season or northeast monsoon will not happen this week, Gener Quitlong of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Extreme northern Luzon is already experiencing the cold weather associated with the holiday season, however.

Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather and possibilities of localized thunderstorms. /cbb
