Palace no longer surprised with ‘White Christmas’

Malacanang is no longer surprised that the communist rebels have supposedly rescheduled their ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte for December after the “Red October” has fizzled out.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Edgardo Arevalo said the plan to topple Duterte was “rolling plan,” adding that the members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) wanted a big celebration during their golden anniversary on December 26.

“I said that’s what the AFP said and I’m not surprised there’s such a thing,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday.

Panelo said the AFP “have the resources, intelligence to validate what they’re saying.”

“You know hindi naman ako magtataka na palaging mayroon plot because that’s precisely the rationale of the creation of the Communist Party of the Philippines to oust the present government,” he said.

“So katakataka kung hindi sila nagpaplano ng ouster move everyday. Eh 50 years na nilang pinaplano pero so far nabibigo naman sila,” he added.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has said the “Red October” plot was suppressed from the time it was discovered.

“Maybe there’s still ‘White Christmas’ because the holidays are coming,” he said in jest./ac
