Erap: JV did not invite me to his COC filing

Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada said Tuesday that his son, reelectionist-Senator JV Ejercito, did not inform him and did not invite him when he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Monday.

“Hindi ko alam e. He did not inform me. Hindi n’ya ko inimbita,” Estrada said when asked why he did not accompany Ejercito in filing his COC.

He noted that he was at City Hall the whole day on Monday.

Ejercito earlier filed his candidacy for senator under the Nationalist People’ Coalition (NPC) after leaving his father’s party, Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).

On Tuesday, the mayor accompanied another son, former-Senator Jinggoy Estrada, when the latter went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) main office in Manila to file his certificate of candidacy (COC).

Jinggoy is seeking a comeback as he submitted his COC for senator. He will be in a head-to-head battle with half-brother Ejercito.

As regards to his relationship with Ejercito after he left his party, Estrada said that he was still his son.

“Anak ko siya. Hindi nagbabago yun,” the mayor said.

Estrada also said that JV was free to move to another party, citing that he had the freedom to do anything.

“Nasa kanya ‘yun. It’s a free country. Do whatever you want,” Erap said. /cbb
