Saudi-bound man shot dead in Paranaque

MANILA, Philippines — A man was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant along Taft Avenue in Paranaque before dawn on Friday, police said.

Police Officer 3 Rolly Velasco of the Paranaque police community precinct 1 identified the victim as Michael Tunay, 37, a resident of Moonwalk village in Las Pinas.

Tunay was walking along Taft Avenue, just below the LRT Baclaran Station, at around 4:30 a.m. when he was shot, said Velasco.

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his head, said the police officer.

The investigator of the case, Senior Police Officer 4 Odeo Carino said that they have spoken to Tunay’s family who said that the victim had been on his way to get his NBI clearance when the incident occured.

“Magsa-Saudi itong victim, kukuha dapat ng NBI clearance,” said Carino.

He said that they have not yet established a motive for the killing.
