With only three days left for the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC), Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go said on Sunday that he is still unsure if he would seek a position in the Senate.
Go said that he still weighing his decision but asked in jest when was the last day of the filing of COCs.
“Nag-iisip pa po ako ng mabuti, nagdarasal po ako ng mabuti, at sana ma-enlighten po ako sa aking magiging decision sa mga susunod na araw,” Go said in an interview with dzmm.
(I’m still deeply thinking about it, praying about it, and hopefully I get enlightened about my decisions in the coming days.)
“But, uulitin ko po, I leave it to the wisdom of the President po kung saan po ako mas makakatulong ating mga kababayan,” he added.
(But I repeat, I leave it to the wisdom of the President where I can be most helpful to the public.)
The presidential aide also said that it is up to Duterte on who would replace him if he decides to run for the May 2019 midterm elections.
“Prerogative po ng ating Pangulo kung sino ang pipiliin niyang kapalit ko, at I’m sure po marami pang mas magaling na Pilipino at qualified po,” he added.
(It’s the President’s prerogative on whom he’ll choose as my replacement, and I’m sure there’s a lot of Filipinos who are better and qualified.)
Go then said that he would continue to support the President regardless if he filed his COC or not.
“Gaya ng pangako ko sa kanya na hanggang kamatayan po ako nasa tabi niya at kung anumang paraan ang aking pagsisilbi sa kanya pangako ko ‘yun na nasa tabi niya habambuhay,” he said.
(Like what I promised him that I’ll be beside him until death and in whatever way I can serve him, I promise that I’ll be by his side all the days of our lives.)
The submission of COCs will run until Wednesday, October 17 at the main office of Commission on Elections in Intramuros, Manila. /je
