Final list of candidates for 2019 elections to be released December

The final list of candidates for the May 2019 midterm elections is expected to be released in December, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez said on Sunday.

“Matatapos po yung ating filing ng October 17. So, ora mismo pagpatak ng October 18, nag-eevaluate na kami niyan ‘no. So, ang expected natin na labas ng final list of candidates, mga December po,” Jimenez said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer.

(We will finish our filing on October 17. So, as soon as the 18th comes, we will start evaluating the candidates. So we’re expecting to release the final list of candidates by December.)

So far, Comelec has recorded a total of 37 senatorial hopefuls and 30 partylists who have filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) on the first two days of its filing.

The filing of COCs started last Thursday, October 11, and will end on October 17.

Meanwhile, Comelec said the election period will be from January 13, 2019 until June 12, 2019. Election day is set for May 13. /je
