The Sevilla Bridge is closed on Saturday due to the construction of the third stage of the Metro Manila Skyway, The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday.
MMDA announced that the bridge connecting Mandaluyong City and Manila City will be closed from Saturday (Oct. 13) at 11 p.m. to Sunday (Oct. 14) at 6 a.m.
It also said the steel girders which temporarily connect Mandaluyong and Manila would be removed to give way to barges carrying large equipment used for the Skyway.
MMDA advised motorists going to Mandaluyong area to take alternative routes such as Shaw Boulevard, Libiran, Bagumbayan and Boni Avenue.
Meanwhile, motorists going to Sta. Mesa, Manila may take alternative routes such as P. Sanchez and Kalentong Street.
The Skyway was expected to be an elevated 14.82-kilometer tollway from Buendia Avenue in Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City.
It will also connect the North and South Luzon Expressways to ease the vehicular traffic in major Metro Manila thoroughfares.
