1 hurt as fire hits convenience store in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY — A fire broke out at a convenience store along Rizal Avenue in Barangay (village) West Bajac-Bajac here on Friday noon.

Store manager Aljurin Empinado was rushed to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital after suffocating due to the heavy smoke.

Authorities said the blaze lasted for about 30 minutes, as firefighters managed to put out the fire by 12:45 p.m.

Investigators suspect that faulty electrical wiring might have caused the fire.
