Nancy Binay files COC, seeks Senate reelection
Senator Nancy Binay filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections main office in Intramuros on Friday as she seeks reelection in the 2019 polls.
In filing her COC, she dismissed criticisms that she did not perform in her stint of almost six years in the Senate.
“‘Yung nagawa ko as member of the Senate will already speak for itself kung deserving ba ako maging senador ulit (What I did as member of the Senate will already speak for itself kung deserving ba ako maging senador ulit),” Binay told reporters.
Binay, who was first elected senator in 2013, said she wants to push for more programs that will improve tourism in the country. She currently chairs the Senate Committee on Tourism.
She said that “there is really a need to assist the tourism masterplans” in certain tourist hotspots around the country. Binay added that the Boracay mess proves this need.
Binay will run under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA). /muf
