Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu will run for senator in the 2019 midterm elections under the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), his chief of staff confirmed Thursday.
“Yes tatakbo si Congressman Dong as senator,” Maiet Banquil, Mangudadatu’s chief of staff, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.
She added that Mangudadatu will file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) next week.
After filing his COC, PDP-Laban president Senator Koko Pimentel said Mangudadatu was among the six other senatorial candidates of the ruling party for next year’s election.
Aside from Mangudadatu, Pimentel also mentioned Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino, Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, and Makati Rep.
