Firefighters responded to a blaze near Fresno Street and Grant Avenue, and can be seen in this footage chopping away a section of a home and freeing a man who was trapped.

The video was posted by the fire department on its Facebook page last Tuesday, Oct. 9, and has amassed 53,000 views as of this writing.

According to a report by The Fresno Bee, the man was homeless and the house was vacant. His exit was blocked by the fire, but he managed to find a crawl space and escape, thanks to the quick action of the firefighters.

Fire Chief Kerri Donis told the publication that the incident is indicative of a larger problem of vacant houses catching fire in the Fresno area, citing 76 vacant building fires that the department had to handle thus far in 2018. JB
