Iloilo City — Unhappy with the haircut he got, a man returned to a barbershop Wednesday afternoon, hacked to death the man who trimmed his hair hours earlier, and immediately gave himself up to the authorities, police said.

“He told us that he did not like the way his hair was cut,” SPO1 Elmer Sanchez quoted Benjie Lozada, 36, as telling investigators by way of explaining why he killed Charlie Agustino, 48, of Rammy’s Barbershop in the town of Calinog, 53 kilometers north of here

Sanchez said police suspected Lozada was mentally unstable following a nervous breakdown.

Sanchez told the Inquirer in a telephone interview yesterday that the assailant had his hair cut at the barbershop at the Calinog public market on Wednesday morning. Unhappy with the outcome and armed with a machete, Lozada retured to the barbershop around 3 p.m. and asked for Agustino, whom he then hacked repeatedly, Sanchez added.
