The CHR noted that the killing of Pintac is “most concerning” as he “is known to be handling charges against Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as well as possession of dangerous drugs.”

“We stress the importance of the judiciary in administering justice and allowing the rule of law to prevail, especially that only few drug cases reach the courts to date,” CHR Spokesperson Jacqueline de Guia said in a statement on Monday.

“The call for the government to act with urgency as the death toll in the Philippines, especially those allegedly linked to the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, continues to grow each day,” she added.

The CHR assured that they will be investigating Pintac’s case “in the interest of finding the truth and demanding accountability from the perpetrators of this injustice.” /ee
