President Rodrigo Duterte didn’t go to Hong Kong with “a bundle of cash” for a shopping-spree, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go said Monday.

Go was reacting to the report of veteran journalist Ellen Tordesillas quoting a source who claimed that the President’s bodyguard was “carrying a bundle of cash” during his unannounced visit in Hong Kong over the weekend.

“Hindi totoo iyan. Walang may hawak na bundle-bundle na pera. Intriga lang iyan, so prove it. Wala hong katotohanan iyan,” Go told Palace reporters in a phone interview.

“Nagpahinga lang po. Hindi siya nag-shopping doon,” he added.

Duterte’s trusted aide insisted that the Hong Kong trip was made by the President to spend some quality time with his teenage daughter Kitty and partner Honeylet Avanceña.

It was also Go who confirmed that Duterte was in Hong Kong last Saturday night.

In her report, Tordesillas also said that her source told her Duterte wore a face mask while inside the men’s section of a famous Japanese clothing line.

The Hong Kong visit came days after Duterte revealed that he spent an hour in a hospital for medical tests, three weeks after undergoing colonoscopy and endoscopy.
