Senatorial candidates from opposition parties may file their certificates of candicacy (COC) on the same day, Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano said on Monday.
“Discussion still ongoing,” Alejano told INQUIRER.net, when asked if they would file their COCs to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) together.
Before the lawmaker made the statement, it appears that bets from the opposition coalition will file their COCs separately. Liberal Party (LP) member and incumbent Senator Bam Aquino said he would file his COC on October 15 or 16.
Election lawyerRomulo Macalintal, running as a LP’s guest candidate, will submit his COC on October 17.
Bayan Muna’s Neri Colmenares, on the other hand, said he will formalize his candidacy on October 11, which is also the first day of filing of COCs set by the Comelec.
Two other LP candidates — human rights lawyer Jose Manuel Diokno and former Quezon Representative Erin Tañada, along with Alejano, said they do not have a definite date in mind yet for filing their COCs. /ee
